The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion faced Hikuleo in a Loser Leaves Japan Match at The New Beginning in Osaka on Saturday, February 11. Jay White managed to hit Hikuleo with a Blade Runner down the stretch but he was unable to make the cover. Hikuleo then decked White with a Powerbomb and a Chokeslam for the victory after they shared a Too Sweet, ending White’s time in Japan in the process.
White accepted his fate following the loss, surprisingly sharing a fist bump with Hiroshi Tanahashi, who was on commentary, before Gedo guided Switchblade up the main ramp so he could bathe in the adulation of the crowd one last time in Japan.
White’s loss comes after reports noted the Bullet Club leader’s contract with NJPW is set to expire and he is expected to leave the promotion. WWE and All Elite Wrestling are believed to be interested in signing White.
